Campers in the Robotics session will learn about design and programming as they work in teams to build a robot to compete in a culminating challenge. Robot contests feature two robots attempting to push each other out of a ring, much like in the sport of sumo wrestling.
Have you ever asked yourself, “Why didn’t I learn that in math class?” Well, brace yourselves because this summer at the Number Ninjas camp we will discover advancements in the field of mathematics while exploring the wonderful realm of numbers! There are a variety of activities such as, the “π-rates on Deck” activity, an in-depth analysis of the irrational(s), and an exploration of the magnificent Fibonacci Sequence. During Numbers Ninja, campers will be introduced to the beauty of numbers and learn via engaging, real-world activities. WARNING: Side effects of this camp include renewing your forgone love for math and leaving with a fresh perspective on number sense.
Through cool, interactive projects, including designing roller coasters, building rockets, and exploring catapults, campers will explore the engineering design process learning how machines and structures are built and operate. This camp combines learning and fun as campers learn how STEM impacts them every day through authentic engineering experiences.
Putting on their detective hats in the Crime Scene Investigators session, campers will dive into forensic science by collecting, analyzing and examining evidence, such as fingerprints, hairs, fibers, DNA and blood splatter to solve crimes.
Students with a basic understanding of any programming language, this camp will extend your programming knowledge! You will begin with the basics then learn to use the language skills in fun, mini challenges. This course is for students in grades 5-8 with some experience with programming. Students may sign up for Week 1 or Weeks 1 & 2. C++ Week 1 is only offered July 10 - July 14. C++ Week 2 is only offered July 17 - July 21. Because C++ Week 2 builds on skills learned during C++ Week 1, please select C++ Week 2 only if you also select C++ Week 1.
Use our Camp Selection Helper to find the right course for the weeks your child will attend and the themes your child wants to explore. The Helper will show you which course includes the weeks and themes your child wants and a link directly to the enrollment site for that course.
